Biological Screening and Development Core

Overview of Services

The Biological Screening and Development Core (BSDC) is a state-of-the-art shared research facility established in the Warren Family Center for Drug Discovery (WFCDD) and offers multidisciplinary cutting-edge drug discovery research services for the investigators of Notre Dame and also for external users. The BSDC is housed in the University’s newly built McCourtney Hall with modern laboratory facilities.

The BSDC provides full range of ADME-T services for small molecule development using high-throughput pre-clinical screenings; these assays include: Plasma Stability, Microsomal Stability, Caco-2 Permeability, PAMPA, Blood-Brain Barrier Permeability and Transport, Plasma protein binding, Primary Hepatocyte Toxicity, hERG Interaction, AMES Mutagenicity Test, CYP Inhibition, and CYP Induction. The core is also capable of generating and purifying recombinant proteins for numerous in vitro assays.

Other services of drug discovery are provided in collaborating arrangement with our WFCDD’s Computer-Aided Molecular Design Core (CAMDC) and Chemical Synthesis and Drug Discovery Core (SDDC). The director of the CAMD Professor Olaf Wiest, and the director of the CSDDC Professor Brandon Ashfeld, are eager to provide your atomistic computational supports and the supports for chemical synthesis and translational biomedical research needs for your research project.

BSDC is also networked with External Partners and their Drug Discovery Services that include Community for Open Antimicrobial Drug Discovery, Eli Lilly's Open Innovation Drug Discovery Synthesis and Screening Program, and In Vitro ADME Services through Quintiles.
