The Optical Microscopy Core (OMC) provides access to a range of light microscopes for fluorescence and bright-field imaging. General training and project-specific, hands-on training opportunities are available for independent microscope use by the researcher. Where the imaging requirement is limited, imaging is provided by expert staff. State-of-the-art Imaris softwareis is available for remote access image processing and analysis. Dedicated workstations with Nikon NIS Elements and DeltaVision software packages are also available for image analysis. Core staff are also available for consulation and support regarding experimental design, sample preparation, imaging and analysis.
The OMC joins the Electron Microscopy Core, InVivo Imaging Core, and Histology Core as part of the Notre Dame Integrated Imaging Facility (NDIIF) within Notre Dame Research. The NDIIF provides an integrated suite of sophisticated instruments and expert staff to enable scientists to address complex research questions. The NDIIF promotes interaction and collaboration bewtween biological and engineering researchers through the use of sophisticated imaging and sample preparation equipment and services.
